Long wait times for getting needed parts for transmission rebuild on Articulated Trucks.Solution
Parts orders will be released in the order that they have been received, may require prior movement to different parts depots before to being released, and/or could be on back order from the supplier. All these reasons will increase the wait time for getting needed parts. Following the listed procedure will give you the best chance of getting needed parts in the best timely manner.Parts Ordering ProcedureWhen ordering parts for a transmission rebuild, use the following procedures.
On a recently down truck, have your dealer Technical Communicator (TC) create a DSN Service Request and submit through PSCRM for the use of a swing or to start the process of parts orders as needed if no swing exists. The DSN must contain a current Product Status Report (PSR) taken with ET, list of troubleshooting performed, and the results from that troubleshooting. If parts have already been ordered proactively, then included the dealer code, list of parts, and the primary PSO number.Note: An additional DSN ticket is not required to release parts, only the original one for a newly or recently down truck.
Place a Parts order with a "machine down" status and include the serial number of the truck that the transmission was removed from.Note: This information is also needed for parts orders for rebuilding a swing transmission. On a swing rebuild, the parts ordered need to be contained to the transmission being rebuilt and kept within the capabilities of the dealership doing the rebuilding. The number of rebuilt swing transmissions needs to be confined to 5% of the fleet being served by said dealer. If the dealer has a component rebuild center (CRC), then the parts orders should originate from that location if possible to create better control.
The number of individual parts ordered against a single Product Service Order (PS0) must match up exactly with the build consist quantity of the transmission arrangement.
Any other parts orders for future need (if not for down trucks) must be made with a "Stock" order status. These orders will only be filled though when amble quantities are in the parts system and after all down orders are filled.
