( 1 ) This number is used in order to identify the solenoids in the manual. This diagnostic code is associated with transmission solenoid 3.FMI 05 is recorded when the transmission electronic control module senses an incomplete circuit. The solenoid's circuit is incomplete.Test Step 1. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the control module.
Measure the resistance between contact 39 and contact 33.Expected Result:The resistance is between 30 ohms and 65 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance is between 30 ohms and 65 ohms. The sensor is operating properly. Inspect the harness connector and inspect the contacts. Verify that the diagnostic code is present. If the code is present, the transmission electronic control module has failed. Repair: Replace the transmission electronic control module. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". Clear the diagnostic code. Stop.
NO - The resistance is not between 30 ohms and 65 ohms. The machine harness has failed or the solenoid has failed. Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness and/or the solenoid. Clear the diagnostic code. Stop.
