CONTROL GP-TRANSMISSION HYD 8P8980 - Caterpillar

1. Put identification on hydraulic lines for installation purposes.2. Disconnect three hydraulic lines (3).3. Fasten a hoist to elevator motor (2).4. Remove two bolts (1).5. Remove elevator motor (2). The weight of the elevator motor is 39 kg (86 lb). The following steps are for installation of the elevator motor.6. Install elevator motor (2) and two bolts (1).7. Connect hydraulic lines (3).Disassemble And Assemble Elevator Motor
Start By:a. remove elevator motor 1. Remove O-ring seal (1). 2. Remove four bolts (3) and cover (2). 3. Remove seal (5) and adapter (6). 4. Remove seal (7) and backup ring (8). 5. Remove retaining ring (9). 6. Use a soft hammer to remove shaft assembly (10). 7. Remove retaining ring (11) with tool (A). 8. Use a press and tool (B) to remove bearing (13) from shaft (12). Hold the shaft from the bottom so it is not damaged when the bearing is removed. 9. Remove washer (14). 10. Remove felt wiper (15). 11. Remove lip type seal (16) with tool (C). 12. Remove cartridge assembly (18) and O-ring seal (17). Cartridge assembly (18) is serviced only as a unit. The entire assembly must be replaced if any of the components are damaged. The disassembly of this unit is for cleaning purposes only. 13. Remove the two bolts at location (X). Remove plate assembly (21) and plate (19) from ring (20).14. Remove the O-ring seal and the backup ring from plate assembly (21). 15. Remove two dowel pins (22). 16. Pull the rotor assembly approximately half way out of ring (20) and install tool (E). Compress the vanes into the rotor and remove the rotor assembly from ring (20). The vanes and springs are under compression and the tool is to prevent the loss of vanes or springs. 17. Remove tool (E) from the rotor assembly. 18. Remove vanes (24) and springs (23). Put identification on the vanes and springs for proper location at assembly. 19. Remove backup ring (25) and O-ring seal (26). The following steps are for assembly of the elevator motor. Inspect all components before assembly and make replacements if any parts are damaged. If any cartridge assembly components are in need of repair, the entire assembly must be replaced as a unit since cartridge assembly components are not serviced. Put a small amount of hydraulic oil on each component during the assembly procedure.20. Install O-ring seal (26) and backup ring (25) on plate (19). The O-ring seal is installed on the rotor side of the groove.21. Install springs (23) in vanes (24). Install the vanes in the rotor grooves (slots).22. Use tool (E) to put the vanes and springs in compression on the rotor.23. Install the rotor assembly in ring (20). Be sure the vanes and springs are in alignment in the ring.24. Install two dowel pins (22).25. Install the O-ring seal and the backup ring on plate assembly (21). The O-ring seal is on the rotor side of the groove.26. Make an alignment of plate assembly
