Installation Procedure
Start By:
Check the fuel injection timing before installing fuel injection pump. Reference Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel Injection Timing- Check" for the correct procedure.Note: The hub will need to be accurately installed on the shaft of the fuel injection pump by the use of special equipment. Refer to your Caterpillar Dealer for more information.

Install fuel injection pump (11) onto the studs (not shown). Install nuts (8).
Install bolt (10).
Tighten nuts (8) to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft). Install bolt (10) to a torque of 44 N m (32 lb ft).
Connect harness assembly (9).

Install bolts (7). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 28 N m (21 lb ft).

Loosen bolt (5).

Install spacer (6) and tighten bolt (5).

Remove Tooling (A).End By:
Install the fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install".
Install the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Remove".
