Information:
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. 2. Loosen the clamps that hold hose (3) to the regulator housing. Move the hose away from the regulator housing.3. Disconnect hose assembly (1). Remove the bolts that hold bracket (2) to the regulator housing, and move the bracket away from the housing.4. Disconnect two tube assemblies (4) from the regulator housing. 5. Disconnect the wires from switches (7), (8) and (10).6. Remove the bolts and retainers that hold tube (5) in place in the regulator housing and water pump. Remove the tube.7. Remove the bolts and clamp that hold tube assembly (9) to the regulator housing.8. Fasten a hoist and tool (A) to regulator housing (6). Remove bolts (11) and the bolts that hold the regulator housings to the bracket. Remove the regulator housings from the engine. The weight of the regulator housings is 37 kg (82 lb.). 9. Put the regulator housing in the position shown. Remove bolts (12), and separate the regulator housings. 10. Remove water temperature regulators (13) from the regulator housing. 11. Remove seals (14) and ferrule (15) from the regulator housing. Remove the ball from under ferrule (15).Install Water Temperature Regulators
1. Install the ball and ferrule (1) in the regulator housing. Make sure the open end of the ferrule is toward the outside of the housing. Ferrule (1) must make contact with the bottom of the bore.2. Install new seals in the housing with tool (A). Install the seals with the lip toward the inside of the regulator housing.
If the water temperature regulators are installed wrong, it will cause the engine to overheat.
3. Install water temperature regulators (2) in the regulator housing with the spring up as shown. 4. Fasten a hoist and tool (B) to housing (3). Put gasket (4) and housing (3) in position on the regulator housing, and install the bolts that hold them in place. 5. Fasten a hoist and tooling (B) to regulator housing (6). Put the regulator housing and the gaskets in position, and install bolts (11) and the bolts that hold the regulator housings to the brackets.6. Install the clamps and bolts that hold tube assembly (9) to the regulator housing.7. Connect the 441OR wire to switch (8).8. Connect the 200BK and 311WH wires to switch (7).9. Connect the 406PU and 438YL wires to switch (10).10. Make sure the O-ring seals are in position on each end of tube (5). Put clean oil on the O-ring seals. Put tube (5) in position in the water pump and regulator housing. Install the retainers and bolts to hold it in place. 11. Put bracket (13) in position on the regulator housing, and install the bolts that hold it.12. Connect two tube assemblies (15) to the regulator housing.13. Connect hose assembly (12).14. Put hose (14) in position on the regulator housing, and tighten the clamps to hold it in place.15. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Maintenance Manual.
