Installation Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Align the grooves in insert (4) with the bolt holes in the major bogie. Install inserts (4). Note: The hole in the idler shaft must be away from the major bogie when the idler is installed.

Attach a suitable lifting device to idler (1). The weight of idler (1) is approximately 645 kg (1425 lb). Install idler (1).
Check the pins in the caps for wear or damage. Replace the pins, if necessary. Make sure that the pins mate with the holes in the idler shaft before installing the cap, as shown. Install cap (2) and bolts (3) to both sides of idler (1). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 2300 300 N m (1700 220 lb ft). Note: Tighten the two lower bolts before tightening the upper bolt.End By:
