Cylinders drifting down. The boom or arch cylinder rods can bend causing the cylinder seals to wear prematurely and leak internally. The rods can bend enough to prevent the rods from moving in and out of the cylinder, eventually breaking.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined. Replace with the same part number. In the event of bent or broken cylinder rods, replace the complete cylinder. Mark the orientation of the rod to the cylinder and note the side that the cylinder was installed. Return the cylinder for failure analysis.
