Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.

Remove drain plug (2) and drain plug (6). Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change". Remove the O-ring seal from the drain plugs.
Remove bolts (1) that fasten engine oil pan (4) to the cylinder block.
Remove engine oil pan (4) from the cylinder block.
Remove isolation seal (5) from the cylinder block and the engine oil pan.
Remove plug (3). Remove the O-ring seal from the plug. Installation Procedure

Clean the sealing surface of the engine oil pan, cylinder block, housing (front), and the flywheel housing.

Install isolation seal (5) on engine oil pan (4).
Put engine oil pan (4) in position and install bolts (1).
Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (2). Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (6). Tighten drain plugs (2) and (6) to a torque of 70 15 N m (52 11 lb ft).
Install the O-ring seal and plug (3). Tighten plug (3) to a torque of 90 15 N m (66 11 lb ft).
Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level that is indicated on the engine oil level gauge. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations" for the lubrication system capacity of the engine.
