Remove Fuel Priming Pump And Filter Base
The removal and installation of the fuel priming pump and filler base on the 3408 and 3412 Generator Sets is similar so only one will be shown. In some applications there will be two fuel filters instead of one. 1. Turn the fuel supply valve to the "OFF" position. Remove two bolts (1), fuel priming pump (2) and the gasket under the fuel priming pump. 2. Use tool (A) to remove fuel filter (3) from the fuel filter base. 3. Put identification on fuel lines (6) for correct installation. Disconnect fuel lines (6). Put plugs and caps over all openings.4. Remove the bolt that holds clip (5) to the fuel filter base. Remove the other bolt and fuel filter base (4). 5. Remove stud (7) if a replacement is necessary.Install Fuel Priming Pump Filter Base
1. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock Compound on the last 7.6 mm (.30 in.) on the tapered end of stud (1). Install the stud in fuel filter base (2). Tighten the stud to a torque of 70 14 N m (50 10 lb.ft.). 2. Install fuel filter base (2) on the engine. Install the bolt that holds clip (3) on the fuel filter base.3. Connect two fuel lines (4) to the fuel filter base. 4. Put clean diesel fuel on seal (5). Install fuel filter (6) on the fuel filter base. Use tool (A) to tighten the fuel filter 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn more when the seal comes in contact with the fuel filter base. 5. Install the gasket and fuel priming pump (7).6. Turn the fuel supply valve to the "ON" position.
