Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Open hood assembly (1) .

Disconnect hoses (2) and (3) .
Remove bolts (4), cover assembly (5), gaskets (6) and (7), and water temperature regulator (8) .Installation Procedure

Install water temperature regulator (8), gaskets (6) and (7), cover assembly (5), and bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 17 2 N m (13 1 lb ft).
Connect hoses (2) and (3) .

Close hood assembly (1) .
Fill the coolant in the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
