At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the hydraulic system before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:a. Shut off the engine.b. Move the control levers through their full travel strokes. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the pilot system.c. Slowly loosen the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.d. Tighten the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank.e. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released. Lines and components can now be removed. 1. Attach strap as shown. Use wooden blocks to support link. Remove bolt (3). Remove pin (2) just far enough to clear cylinder (1). 2. Disconnect hose assemblies (4). 3. Remove bolt (5), retainer (6) and pin (7). Remove grapple cylinder (1). Install in the reverse order. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
