NOT OK - The sensor does NOT work properly. The sensor does NOT function correctly according to the table. Proceed to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. Check The Machine Harness.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the position sensor (transmission gear).
Disconnect the machine harness from the Rear Transmission ECM (Scraper).
Connect a jumper from contact 7 (wire 202-BK) to contact A(wire 738-BR) on the machine harness.
Measure the resistance from contact J1-39 (wire738-BR) to frame ground. Note the resistance.
Remove the end of the jumper that is connected to contact A (wire 738-BR). Connect the end of the jumper to contact B (wire 739-WH) on the machine harness.
Measure the resistance from contact J1-28 (wire739-WH) to frame ground. Note the resistance.
Remove the end of the jumper that is connected to contact B (wire 739-WH). Connect the end of the jumper to contact C (wire 740-OR) on the machine harness.
Measure the resistance from contact J1-29 (wire740-OR) to frame ground. Note the resistance.
Remove the end of the jumper that is connected to contact C (wire 740-OR). Connect the end of the jumper to contact E (wire 741-YL) on the machine harness.
Measure the resistance from contact J1-30 (wire741-YL) to frame ground. Note the resistance.
Remove the end of the jumper that is connected to contact E (wire 741-YL). Connect the end of the jumper to contact F (wire 742-GN) on the machine harness.
Measure the resistance from contact J1-31 (wire742-GN) to frame ground. Note the resistance.Expected Result:Each resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms.Results:
OK - Each resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms. There is no problem with the position sensor or the machine harness. The ECM has failed.Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed.
