This is a 4.0-hour job
If there has been a previous repair, part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
The above table is for Option 2 only. See NOTE A for Options 1 and 3.
The 4.0 hours listed above is per track box to perform a LINK ASSEMBLY REPAIR (box assembly replacement). The LINK ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT is a 6.0 hour job per link assembly for remove, install, and shoe swap. The track serial number of the replacement link assembly must be included in the ?Additional Comments? section on each warranty claim submitted.
NOTE A:
For replacing the entire link assembly under Options 1 or 3, customer?s parts cost participation is based upon percent link wear and track hours (percent worn up to 100% and hours up to 6000). To determine customer?s participation percentage, use Image 1.1 and the link percent worn (Y axis) AND the hours on the link assembly (X axis).
Customer Participation = Customer List Price X Customer Participation Percentage (see Image 1.1)
Caterpillar?s parts participation = D/N + 10% Price - Customer Participation
Caterpillar?s labor participation will be 100% up to 6.0 hours per link assembly for remove, install, and shoe swap.
When using Options 1 or 3, Caterpillar will participate in track roller and carrier roller replacement if the rollers are over 40% worn, or if the link assemblies have been previously replaced. Caterpillar's proration calculation for track rollers and carrier rollers is:
Customer Participation = Customer List Price X Average Percent of Roller Wear
Caterpillar?s parts participation = D/N + 10% Price - Customer Participation
Caterpillar?s labor participation will be 100% up to 3.0 hours for all rollers on one side of tractor. (6.0 hours maximum)
D6H/R/T SystemOne undercarriage wear charts can be found in the UC04-19 (PELJ0357).
Claims story must have a CTS report with link and roller wear %, tractor SMR, track chain service hours, and the number of leaking or dry joints.

Rework Procedure
INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
Inspect all link boxes in the link assembly for dry joints. Dry joints may be detected by the following methods: 1) pitch extension, 2) low oil level, or 3) elevated temperature. Elevated temperature is only an indication of a possible dry joint. Joints with elevated temperatures must be measured for pitch extension or low oil level before being replaced.
Pitch Extension - A track joint should be replaced when its link pitch extension has exceeded 6.35 mm (0.25 inch). To avoid track separation, the maximum pitch extension that should be allowed is 12.70 mm (0.50 inch) for any joint. Pitch extension occurs after lubricant has leaked and the internal components are wearing against each other.
Pitch extension can be measured with tracks on or off the machine. The track should have sufficient tension applied to it while measuring so there is no slack in the tracks that would affect the measurement. One method of applying
