Release system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Remove apron lift. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Apron Lift - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach a suitable lifting device around apron cylinder (1) .

Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.
Remove two hose assemblies (2) and attach Tool (A) in order to prevent the apron cylinder from drifting during removal.
Remove bracket assembly (3) and lower apron cylinder (1) to the ground.
The apron cylinder weighs 191 kg (420 lb). The bracket assembly weighs 33.5 kg (73.85 lb).
