Removal Procedure
Start By:
Release system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.
Drain the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The hydraulic tank has a capacity of approximately 180 L (48 US gal).

Remove elbows (1) and hose assemblies (2) from hydraulic and steering pump (3) .

Attach a suitable lifting device onto hydraulic and steering pump (3). The weight of hydraulic and steering pump (3) is approximately 57 kg (125 lb).

Remove nuts (4) .
Remove hydraulic and steering pump (3) .
