The Electronic Control Module (ECM) provides a comprehensive, programmable engine monitoring system for this engine. The ECM monitors specific engine operating parameters to detect abnormal conditions that may develop. The ECM can generate a diagnostic code with particular FMIs if a specific engine parameter exceeds an acceptable range. The range is defined by the engine monitoring system. Refer to Table 1 for details of the FMIs. The ECM will react with an action that depends on the severity of the condition. For information on these codes, refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Codes".The following actions may be initiated by the ECM. These actions depend on the severity of the condition.
