Tooling (A) Pusher (B) Long mandrel (C) Short mandrel (F) Piston (K) O-ring seal (L) Typical mandrel (M) Seal groove (N) Seal groove
Completely fill in seal groove (M) piston (F) with grease. Install backup ring (J) in the seal groove.Note: Make sure that the seal groove is filled with grease. The grease will force the air out of the assembly when the O-ring seal and the backup ring are installed.
Coat the external diameter of piston (F) and tool (B) with a small amount of grease. Position tool (B) at the bottom end of piston (F) .
Position O-ring seal (K) on tool (B). Use tool (A) and assemble the O-ring seal in the seal groove with the backup ring.Note: Make sure that the position of the O-ring seal and the backup ring is correct. Make sure that new backup rings are installed.
Remove tool (B). Completely fill in seal groove (N) piston (F) with grease. Install backup ring (J) in the seal groove.
Coat the external diameter of piston (F) and tool (C) with a small amount of grease. Position tool (C) at the bottom end of piston (F) .
Position O-ring seal (K) on tool (C). Use tool (A) and assemble the O-ring seal in the seal groove with the backup ring.
Coat the external diameter of piston (F) with a small amount of grease. Make sure that O-ring seal (K) and backup ring (J) are coated with grease. Add grease in the bottom of cylinder (E) .Note: Coating the piston with grease will prevent air from being forced in the interior of the cylinder when the piston is installed.
Install piston (F) in cylinder (E). Use a soft faced hammer if force is necessary.

Detail G From Illustration 1 (F) Piston (H) Lip seal (R) 0.5 0.5 mm (0.02 0.02 inch)
Assemble piston (F) in cylinder (E). Coat the inside diameter of lip seal (H) with grease. Install the new lip seal on the end of the cylinder. Do not reuse the former lip seal. Refer to Illustration 3.Note: Make sure that lip seal (H) is flush with the external diameter of cylinder (E). The lip seal must not exceed 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) below the external diameter of the cylinder.
