Illustration 1. Measurement of the equalizer bar.3. If either half is long, remove material from the end(s) of the long half (halves) of the equalizer bar. Try to remove enough material to obtain a length of 999.2 1.5 mm (39.34 .06"), but do not remove more than 6.35 mm (.250") from an end.4. Weld the end(s) of the equalizer bar as shown in Illustration 2. Use an AWS7018 welding rod, with 220 amperes for a 5/32" rod or 140 amperes for an 1/8" rod. Use reverse polarity (electrode connected to positive), and put the bar at a 45° angle to weld it. Remove all slag.
