Lowering the Loader (Mechanical Machines)
Personal injury or death can result from a bucket falling.Keep personnel away from the front of the machine when lowering the bucket.
If there is a loss of hydraulic power, perform the following procedure to lower the lift arms to the ground.
Turn the engine start switch key to the ON position.
Slowly operate the loader control lever into the LOWER position in order to lower the bucket to the ground.Lowering The Boom (Mechanical Machines)
Personal injury or death can result from the boom falling.Keep personnel away from the rear of the machine when lowering the boom.
If there is a loss of hydraulic power, perform the following procedure to lower the boom to the ground.
Slowly operate the boom control lever into the "Boom Lower" position in order to lower the backhoe bucket to the ground.Lowering the Boom (Pilot Machines)
Personal injury or death can result from the boom falling.Keep personnel away from the rear of the machine when lowering the boom.
Machines with Electrical Power
If there is a loss of hydraulic power, perform the following procedure to lower the boom to the ground.
Place the hydraulic lockout switch in the UNLOCK position.
Turn the engine start switch key to the ON position and crank for 5 seconds.
Leave the key in the ON position.
Slowly operate the joystick control for the boom into the DOWN position in order to lower the boom to the ground.Machines without Electrical Power
If there is not electrical power and there is not a break in a hydraulic line, perform the following procedure to lower the boom to the ground.Note: Two people are needed in order to manually lower the boom. One person should be used in order to ensure that all personnel are clear of the machine while the boom is being lowered.
Ensure that the parking brake is engaged.
Locate the boom control valve underneath the rear of the machine.
On the top of the boom control valve, locate the boom line relief valve and remove the yellow tamper proof cap.
Loosen the locknut, then turn the center screw out counter clockwise.
When the boom has been fully lowered, the relief valve will need to be reset to the correct pressure. Contact your local Cat dealer for this procedure.
