June 2002 221-9187 KIT NOW AVAILABLE FOR 789B & 789C WHEEL STATIONREBUILDS
The Drive Train Parts Products group announces the availabilityof the 221-9187, Off-Highway Truck Wheel Station Rebuild Kit for 789B & 789Cmodels. This kit was developed in response to dealer and customer requests for acomprehensive wheel station rebuild kit. This new kit contains all the partsneeded for a before-failure rebuild of one wheel station. Included in this kitare the seals, bearings, gaskets, friction plates and other parts required torebuild a 789B or 789C wheel station (see parts list below).
Thiskit must be used in conjunction with the improved second-reduction planetarygears, 144-3366 and cast wheel, 142-5946. If not already upgraded, the 789B or789C must be reworked to these components to use this kit.
The wheel station rebuild business for large off-highway trucksis extremely competitive. This new kit encourages dealers to maintain or growtheir wheel station rebuild business. It improves technician efficiency byeliminating the need to search through parts books to identify every seal andgasket. When sold over the parts counter to customers performing their ownrepairs, it offers high quality genuine Cat parts with the convenienceof a kit. In addition, this kit is offered at a reduced price, less than theindividual piece part total, allowing Caterpillar Dealers to offerdifferentiated components at a competitive price.
