At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the hydraulic system before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:a. Shut off the engine.b. Move the control levers through their full travel strokes. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the pilot system.c. Slowly loosen the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.d. Tighten the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank.e. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released. Lines and components can now be removed. Remove, cap and identify all lines and remove all covers.1. Remove bolts (1) and strap.2. Remove bolts (2) and strap and remove center shaft (3).3. Remove bolts (4), housing (5) and shaft group (6).4. Remove bolts (7) and bolts (8).5. Remove housing (9) and shaft group (10).6. Remove bolt (11) and (14). The following steps are for the installation of the winch drive shaft group.7. Torque for bolts (1), (2) and (7) 34 5 N m (25 4 lb ft).8. Use shims as required to insure that the center joint group is parallel to surfaces (12) and (13) within 3.0 mm (.118 in).9. Torque for bolts (11) and (14) 60 5 N m (45 4 lb ft)10. Use shims (15) as required to insure that yokes rotate freely when turned by hand. Maximum end play shall not exceed 0.30 mm (.012 in). Lubricate all sealing lips and all fittings with 5P960 Lubricant before assembly. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
