2. If any of the flighting or holders are damaged determine if the entire holder and flighting assembly will have to be replaced or if only the holder will have to be replaced. 3. Remove the damaged holder or flighting assembly and grind the surface smooth.4. Replace the new flighting assembly so that it is aligned with all the other cutter tools.5. To align the cutter teeth use the following replacement procedure. a. Make an alignment tool by taking a 16"×1"×1/4" piece of bar stock and weld a 1"×2" piece of angle iron to one end of the 16" piece of bar stock. b. Clamp the alignment tool to the cutter box and apply a piece of tape of the 16" bar. c. Slowly rotate the cutter drum and place a mark on the tape above each cutter tooth. d. Now fill in the gaps on the tape with marks equally spaced between the marks placed above the cutter bits. e. Weld the new flighting assembly on place so the new cutter bit will line up with the marks on the tape and at the same height as the other cutter teeth. f. When welding the flighting to the cutter use three passes of 1/2" fillet weld.g. When welding a cutter holder to the flighting use a 3/8" single weld.
