Schematic of the Boom Drift Reduction Valve circuitThis diagnostic code is associated with the boom drift reduction valve. The FMI 05 means that the machine ECM determined that the current is below normal. The possible causes of this failure are listed below:
The solenoid energizer circuit is open.
The solenoid has failed.
The return circuit of the solenoid is open.
The machine ECM has failed. This is unlikely. When this failure occurs, a warning is displayed on the message center and the machine ECM disables the circuit. Note: The following test procedure may create other failures. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original failure has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. DO NOT start the engine.
Disconnect the suspect solenoid from the machine harness.
At the machine harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper between contact 1 (wire P946-BR) and contact 2 (wire H807-YL).
Observe the message center while the jumper wire is installed and the jumper wire is removed.Expected Result:The diagnostic code alternates between the active status and the inactive status as the jumper is installed and the jumper is removed. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code alternates between the active status and the inactive status as the jumper is installed and the jumper is removed. The machine ECM is operating correctly.Repair: The solenoid has failed. Replace the solenoid. Stop.
NO - The failure remains. The harness or the machine ECM have failed. Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK FOR OPEN HARNESS CIRCUIT
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the machine ECM.
The jumper that was placed between contact 1 (wire P946-BR) and contact 2 (wire H807-YL) in the previous test remains in place.
At the machine harness connector J2 of the machine ECM, measure the resistance between contact J2-54 of the solenoid energizer circuit (wire P946-BR) to contact J2-36 (wire H807-YL). Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5.0 ohms. There is an open circuit in the machine harness.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect the connectors and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Clear all active failures from the message center by pressing the "OK" key.
Operate the machine.
Check the message center for an active diagnostic code. The diagnostic information may also be viewed with the ET.Expected Result:The diagnostic
