Refer to Service Manual module, RENR3036, "Disassembly and Assembly, 550 Wheel Harvester, 570 Wheel Harvester, and 580 Wheel Harvester Engine Supplement", "Fuel Priming Pump and Primary Filter (Water Separator) - Remove" for instruction on the removal of the existing water separator on Wheel Harvesters. Refer to Service Manual module, RENR3038, "Disassembly and Assembly, 574 Forwarder Engine Supplement", "Fuel Priming Pump and Primary Filter (Water Separator) - Remove" for instruction on the removal of the existing water separator on the 574 Forwarder. Refer to Service Manual module, SENR6241, "Disassembly and Assembly, 3054 Engine for Caterpillar Built Machines", "Fuel Filter Base - Remove" for instruction on the removal of the existing water separator on the 554 Forwarder.
Remove the former water separator.
Install the 6V-8636 Seal Connector and the 6V-8724 Elbow into the 149-2683 Water Separator. For the 554 Forwarder, install two 6V-8636 Seal Connectors. Use a 3J-1907 O-ring Seal on each connector.Note: The inlet and outlet ports have been inverted on the improved design.
Install the new 149-2683 Water Separator. Refer to Service Manual module, RENR3036, "Disassembly and Assembly, 550 Wheel Harvester, 570 Wheel Harvester, and 580 Wheel Harvester Engine Supplement", "Fuel Priming Pump and Primary Filter (Water Separator) - Install" for instruction on the installation of the new water separator on Wheel Harvesters. Refer to Service Manual module, RENR3038, "Disassembly and Assembly, 574 Forwarder Engine Supplement", "Fuel Priming Pump and Primary Filter (Water Separator) - Install" for instruction on the installation of the new water separator on the 574 Forwarder. Refer to Service Manual module, SENR6241, "Disassembly and Assembly, 3054 Engine for Caterpillar Built Machines", "Fuel Filter Base - Install" for instruction on the installation of the new water separator on the 554 Forwarder.
