PROBLEM
The existing counterbalance valves can fail on certain RM300 and RM500 Reclaimers. If the existing counterbalance valves fail, they can weep oil from the adjustment stem and/or have a reduced pressure setting that could cause less responsive rotor lift/lower cylinder movement.

ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect the valve shown in Image 2 for the date code. Defective valves can be identified by the Date Code stamped on the side of the valve hex. A date code example of E3191 is shown in Image 1. "E" indicates the Supplier source facility. "319" is the Date of Manufacture, which indicates the day of the year that the valve was built. For example, a valve with "319" was built 15Nov2011. "1" is the last digit of the Year of Manufacture so "1" indicates 2011. A date code range of E2241 to E3061 needs to be replaced. Replace the valve with the same part number with a date code later than E3061. Torque the valve during installation at 41-47 N-m.
