Put clean engine oil on the lip of seal (1). Install seal (1) with Tool (A), as shown.

Install bearing (4), spacer (3), and bearing (5) on shaft (2). Install shaft (2) in the pump housing.

Install retainer (7) and O-ring seal (8) .
Install gear (6). Install the washer and the bolt that holds gear (6) to shaft (2) .

Clean water is the only lubricant that is permitted for assembly. DO NOT damage or touch the wear surfaces of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal.
Put ceramic ring (10) in position in the rubber seal (9). Use hand pressure and the tool that comes with the replacement ring in order to install the ceramic ring in the housing.

Remove the spring from the seal assembly (11). Use the tool that comes with the replacement ring to install the seal assembly (11). Push the seal assembly on the shaft until the carbon ring on the seal assembly contacts the ceramic ring.

Install spring (12) on the seal assembly. Install impeller (13) on the shaft. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 39 3 N m (29 27 lb ft).

Install O-ring seals (14) on adapter (15). Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seals.
Install adapter (15) in the pump housing. Make sure that the notch in the adapter aligns with dowel (16) .End By: Install the water pump.
