In extreme operation applications, oil leakage may occur from the final drive cover due to insufficient mounting capacity of the bolts. Solution
Inspect the final drive cover for your machine. If oil leaks have occurred, follow the procedure below to eliminate the oil leaks.Procedure

Remove the 16 existing 143-0811 Bolts (1) and 5p-8245 Hard Washers (2) .
Remove the final drive cover (3) .
Remove any oil or grease from the ring gear and final drive cover with a Caterpillar approved solvent.

(4) Sealant
Apply 8C-8422 Sealant to the mating surface of the final drive cover and the ring gear.

Note: Sealant diameter 3 mm (0.12 inch) to 4 mm (0.16 inch). Refer to Illustration 3
Install the new 143-0811 Bolts and 5p-8245 Hard Washers in order to install the final drive cover. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 50 5 N m (37 3.7 lb ft) plus an angle of 40 4 degrees.
