3. Use tooling (A) to remove the upper collet. Tighten the forcing bolts evenly and remove the collet.4. Use tooling (A) to remove the lower collet assembly, pin and shims (if equipped). Put identification marks on the shims for correct installation.5. Start the engine. Fully retract the steering cylinder. Stop the engine.6. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Release Hydraulic System Pressure in this module. 7. Disconnect steering cylinder hose assemblies (3) and (4). 8. Remove the four bolts and washers that hold cover (5) to the rear frame. Remove the cover. 9. Disconnect lubrication hose assembly (6) from the head end of the steering cylinder. 10. Remove bolt and washer (7) (obscured) from the steering cylinder head end collet assembly. 11. Use tooling (A) to remove the upper collet. Tighten the forcing bolts evenly and remove the collet.12. Use tooling (A) to remove the lower collet assembly, pin and shims (if equipped). Put identification marks on the shims for correct installation. 13. Attach a suitable lifting strap and hoist to steering cylinder assembly (8) as shown. Remove the steering cylinder assembly from the rear frame. The weight of the steering cylinder assembly is 46 kg (101 lb). 14. Disconnect hose assembly (9) from the steering cylinder.Install Steering Cylinders
1. Check the condition of the O-ring seals used in the ends of the hose assemblies that connect to the steering cylinder. If any of the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. 2. Connect hose assembly (2) to steering cylinder (1). 3. Attach as suitable lifting strap and hoist to steering cylinder assembly (1) as shown. Put the steering cylinder assembly in position in the rear frame as shown. The weight of the steering cylinder assembly is 46 kg (101 lb). 4. Align the bores of the steering cylinder and the rear frame. Put 5P-0960 Lubricant in the pin bore and install pin (3) and shims (5) (as required).5. Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the outside and inside diameters of all the collets before assembly. Install collet assemblies (4) and (6).6. Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the thread of the bolt and washer that hold the collet assemblies to the pin assembly. Install bolt (7) and the washer. The collet on one side must not extend farther than the other collet when the bolt is tight.7. Tighten bolt (7) to a torque of 370 50 N*m (275 37 lb ft).After the bolt is tight, hit the collet on each side with a heavy hammer until the torque on the bolt is less than 200 N*m (150 lb ft).8. Tighten bolt (7) again to torque of 370 50 N*m (275 37 lb ft). Hit each collet again until the torque for the bolt is less than 285 N*m (210 lb ft).9. Tighten bolt (7) to a final torque of 370 50 N*m (275 37 lb ft). At the end of 50 service hours after any pin and collet was installed,
