Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove the protective cover from the lifting brackets. Mark the location of the lifting brackets.
Remove needle valve (3).
Remove nuts (1).
Attach a suitable lifting device to remove lifting bracket (2).
Remove lifting bracket (2). The weight of lifting bracket (2) is approximately 42 kg (93 lb). Note: Store the lifting brackets in a clean dry place. Do not install the lifting brackets until it is necessary to lift the engine.
Install Tooling (A) on each cylinder head stud. Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Remove Tooling (A) from each cylinder head stud.
Install the engine lifting brackets on a 3612 Engine between the following cylinders:
Number 1 Cylinder and Number 3 Cylinder
Number 2 Cylinder and Number 4 Cylinder
Number 9 Cylinder and Number 11 Cylinder
Number 10 Cylinder and Number 12 Cylinder
Install the engine lifting brackets on a 3616 Engine between the following cylinders:
Number 1 Cylinder and Number 3 Cylinder
Number 2 Cylinder and Number 4 Cylinder
Number 13 Cylinder and Number 15 Cylinder
Number 14 Cylinder and Number 16 Cylinder
Apply Tooling (B) on the threads of the cylinder head studs.
Put engine lifting bracket (2) in position on the cylinder head studs. Install nuts (3). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 2150 250 N m (1590 185 lb ft). Note: The brackets must be installed so that the pin holes in the clevis are in a horizontal plane.
Install needle valve (3).

Number 14 Cylinder and Number 16 Cylinder
Apply Tooling (B) on the threads of the cylinder head studs.
