769C, 773B, 777 TrucksDescription of Change: A new wiper is used on the adjustment screw for the priority valve in the shift pressure valve group in transmissions for the above models. The new wiper is made of a plastic (thermoplastic polyester) material, which has better resistance to high temperatures than the rubber material in the former wiper. In some conditions of operation, temperatures can become high enough to make the former rubber material hard. This can permit the development of cracks, and possibly broken wipers. A broken wiper permits the adjustment screw to turn, and lowers the pressure setting of the priority valve. The lower pressure setting can cause the parking brake to partially (not completely) engage.Adaptable As: The new 3T2809 Wiper is a direct replacement for the former 5J2274 Wiper, and can be installed on all earlier machines.
