Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove coupling assembly (1) and coupling assembly (3).
Remove bolt (4) and the clamps. Disconnect tube assembly (5).
Remove elbow (2).

Remove clamps (7) and boots (6).

Remove bolt (8), bolt (9), and the clamps.
Disconnect tube assembly (10), tube assembly (11), and tube assembly (12).

Remove bolts (17), bolts (19), outlet elbow (13), and outlet elbow (18).
Remove bolt (14) and bolts (15). Disconnect tube assembly (16).

Remove bolts (20), regulator housing (21), and the gasket.

Remove plug (22) and plug (23).
Remove water temperature regulators (24) and the lip seals.

Remove bolts (25), cover (26), gasket (27), and vent line valve (28). Installation Procedure
Install water temperature regulator (24) in the reverse order of removal.
Lubricate the bore of tube assembly (16) with Tooling (A).
