CORE AS-OIL COOLER 7W0675 - Caterpillar

1. Remove the middle crankcase guard. The weight of the guard is approximately 467 kg (1030 lb.). Lower the rear crankcase guard. The weight of the rear crankcase guard is approximately 369 kg (813 lb.).2. Disconnect two transmission oil cooler lines (1) from the retarder control valve. Disconnect oil line (2) from the retarder control valve.3. Disconnect air line (3) from the air regulator on the retarder control valve. 4. Disconnect two oil lines (4) from the retarder control valve. 5. Disconnect the end of oil line (5) from the bevel gear case. Remove the two clips that hold oil line (5) to the frame. Remove the three bolts that hold retarder control valve (6) to the transfer gears. Use oil line (5) to lift the retarder control valve out of the machine. 6. Remove oil line (5) and air regulator (7) from the retarder control valve.Install Retarder Control Valve
1. Install oil line (1) on the retarder control valve. Do not tighten the oil line in place until the retarder control valve is installed on the machine.2. Install air regulator (2). 3. Make sure the three O-ring seals are in position on the retarder control valve. Use oil line (1) to lower retarder control valve (3) into position. Install the three bolts that hold the retarder control valve to the transfer gears.4. Connect the other end of oil line (1) to the location on the bevel gear case it was removed from. Install the two clips that hold the oil line in position against the frame. Tighten the end of oil line (1) that is connected to the retarder control valve. 5. Make sure the O-ring seal is in position on the end of oil line (4). Connect oil line (4) to the top of the retarder control valve.6. Make sure the O-ring seal is in position on block (6) and on the end of oil line (5). Connect oil line (5) and block (6) to the retarder control valve. 7. Make sure the O-ring seals are in position in the ends of transmission oil cooler lines (7). Connect transmission oil cooler lines (7) to the retarder control valve. Connect oil line (8) to the retarder control valve.8. Connect air line (9) to the regulator on the retarder control valve.10. Install the rear and middle crankcase guard. The weight of the rear guard is approximately 369 kg (813 lb.). The weight of the middle guard is approximately 467 kg (1030 lb.).Disassemble Retarder Control Valve
START BY:a) remove retarder control valve 1. Remove the O-ring seals from the face of the retarder control valve.
Covers (1) and (2) are under spring pressure. To prevent personal injury hold the covers as the bolts are removed.
2. Remove covers (1) and (2) from the retarder control valve. 3. Remove slug (4), spring (3), the stop, spring and the valve spool from the retarder control valve. Remove the pin from the end of the valve spool if a replacement is necessary. 4. Remove bolt (8),
