PROBLEM
The current vent location on the plug located in the "A" Port causes grease to overflow and contact the side buffers. The side buffers are made of a rubber material. Petroleum products, such as grease and oil, can cause accelerated deterioration of the rubber side buffers.

ACTION REQUIRED
During the rebuild of the hammer, inspect the venting locations. Refer to the following procedure to ensure proper grease venting.
Refer to the appropriate service manual as necessary.
Note: The impact chamber must be vented. Do not install a plug on vent port "A" without validating the bolt has the correct drilled passage on seal carrier. Damage to the wiper seal will result in needing to reseal / rebuild the hammer in order to stop oil leaks.

1. During routine scheduled rebuild. Remove hammer from housing.
2. Remove drilled plug (1) that is installed in port "A".
3. Install 3J-1907 Seal-o-ring to new 9S8004 Plug. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock compound to the threads of the plug and install the plug into port "A".
4. Remove breather bolt (2). Do not discard lock washers.
5. Install lock washers on new 308-7081 Breather Bolt. Apply 9S-3263 thread lock compound onto breather bolt and install into seal carrier.
