Operation
The Monitoring System displays machine operation information on the display module. The display module receives information from the Electronic Control Modules (ECMs) on the machine via a CAN data link. Information about the machine is collected by ECMs via switches and sensors.
Illustration 1 g06233041Note: If the signal to a gauge is lost during operation of the machine, the gauge will display the maximum value. The fuel gauge will display "Empty" upon loss of a signal.Power Up
The display module will initiate a powerup sequence when an input from the key start switch is received. The powerup sequence will include a functional test of the system. The functional test will consist of illuminating all indicators at maximum intensity, turning ON the LCD, and turning ON the horn driver and internal alarm. The horn driver will turn ON for the first half of the functional test time and the internal alarm will turn ON for the second half of the functional test time. The duration of the functional test will be less than 3 seconds.For dedicated single-color indicators, the indicators will be illuminated for the entire test. For dual-colored indicator locations, the indicator locations shall display both colors sequentially during the functional test. The time of display of each color location is equal to the one-half the total functional test time.Power Down
The instrument cluster will begin the power down sequence when the key start switch is turned OFF and no engine speed is detected. In this mode, the indicators must draw power from the switch to the battery circuit that controls the activation of the indicators.The engine also sends a message to the display that tells the display to shut down.
