Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use a steel rod (12) that is 3.18 mm (0.125 inch) in diameter in order to clean each tube of the oil cooler.

Install O-ring seals (10) in each elbow (11). Install elbows (11) on the oil cooler.

Oil filter base
Install O-ring seals (9) on the oil filter base.

Install gasket (7) on the bonnet of the transmission oil cooler. Position engine oil cooler (1) on the oil filter base. Install four bolts (8) that hold engine oil cooler (1) to the oil filter base.
Connect engine oil cooler (1) to the bonnet of the transmission oil cooler.

Install gasket (5). Position pipe (4) on the engine oil cooler. Install bracket (6) and install pipe (4) .

Slide the hose away from oil cooler (1). Position the hose on the elbow. Tighten hose clamps (3) .
Install tube assembly (2) .
Refill the engine crankcase. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for information regarding the correct viscosity and the correct refill capacities.
