Information:

Start by:a. Remove engine, torque converter updrive and transmission. Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Tools And Shop Product Guide, NENG2500, for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Typical Example1. Install the engine, torque converter updrive and transmission on tooling (A) as shown. The weight of the engine, torque converter updrive and transmission is approximately 2000 kg (4410 lb).
Typical Example2. Fasten tooling (B) and a suitable hoist to four points on the torque converter updrive and transmission as shown. 3. Remove bolt (1) and the washer to disconnect the transmission earth wire.4. Remove bolt (2) and the washer to disconnect the harness connector from the transmission.5. Disconnect and plug tube assembly (3).6. Disconnect and plug hose assembly (4). 7. Remove cable ties (5). Disconnect connector (6). 8. Remove twelve bolts (7) and the washers that hold the torque converter updrive and transmission to the flywheel housing of the engine. Remove the torque converter updrive and transmission as a unit. The weight of the unit is approximately 740 kg (1630 lb).Connect Torque Converter Updrive and Transmission to Engine
Typical Example1. Check the condition of the O-ring seal used on the torque converter updrive housing. If the seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement. Install the O-ring seal on the torque converter updrive housing.2. Fasten tooling (B) and a suitable hoist to the torque converter updrive and transmission as shown. 3. Install two 3/8 in - NC guide bolts (2). Put the torque converter updrive and transmission in position on the flywheel housing of the engine. Ensure the torque converter drive gear is engaged correctly in the engine flywheel. The weight of the unit is approximately 740 kg (1630 lb). Install twelve bolts (1) and the washers that hold the unit in place. 4. Connect connector (4). Install cable ties (3). 5. Install bolt (5) and a washer to connect the transmission earth wire.6. Install bolt (6) and a washer to connect the harness connector to the transmission.7. Check the condition of the O-ring seals used in the hose and tube assemblies. Use new parts for replacement.8. Connect tube assembly (7).9. Connect hose assembly (8).End by:a. Install engine, torque converter updrive and transmission.
