All Vehicles So EquippedCurrent production machines with seat belts attached to eyebolts now use a 310249 Self-Locking Nut and 5M6755 Screw to hold the seat belt "sister-hook" halves together. See Illustration 1. The screw and self-locking nut provide a more efficient method of securing the seat belt hooks than the 3B4626 Cotter Pin that was formerly used.
Either the cotter pin or the self-locking nut and screw will do an acceptable job when correctly installed. If a cotter pin is used to hold the hooks together, it must be tightly crimped. See Illustration 2. Whichever method is used, the hook halves must be held tightly together as shown in the illustrations. If the hook halves are not held tightly together, it is possible for the seat belts to come loose from the eyebolts.
