An additional dry lubricant for the circle components is available from Caterpillar. This lubricant is a brush-on type and comes in two sizes: ...8T9906 Lubricant - 0.95 L (16 oz)...8T9907 Lubricant - 3.78 L (1 U.S. gal)
This lubricant is also available in 0.83 L (14 oz) aerosol form directly from the supplier in cases of twelve. Order number S-12000 from:

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Reference: Maintenance Supplement SEBU5966-02, "G Series Motor Grader Circle And Drawbar". The key to longer life and improved wear characteristics of drawbar and circle components is correct maintenance. Regular scheduled maintenance checks for wear are essential to determine if adjustments are neede to provide correct clearance dimensions. Excessive clearances between the circle and shoes, pinion and/or drawbar when combined with incorrect lubrication can rapidly accelerate wear. Check the following clearances and make adjustments if necessary: blade circle to shoe clearance, front and rear shoe clearance, center shoe clearance (if equipped) and circle pinion clearance.
Extra care must be exercised when checking the wear of the circle pinion gear. Some maintenance people become alarmed by what appears to be excessive early hour wear. As a byproduct of the hardening process, a soft layer of decarburized steel will be found on the surface of the pinion teeth. This soft layer will have rapid early hour wear. Beneath this soft decarburized layer is the actual hardened wear surface of the pinion gear teeth. After the initial wear occurs, the circle to pinion clearance should be adjusted.
Once the adjustments are correct, correct lubrication should be applied to reduce friction and minimize wear. The top surface of the circle, the pinion and circle teeth are all critical points that must be correctly lubricated. All contact points can be lubricated. Refer to the reference publication. Use either a multipurpose molybdenum grease or a dry type spray on lubricant.
When working in abrasive material, using a multipurpose molybdenum grease can actually accelerate wear. Abrasive particles will become trapped in the lubricant and cause component wear to accelerate, defeating the purpose of the lubricant. Teflon or graphite based aerosol lubricants are available which do not share the same drawbacks of conventional "wet" lubricants (grease). Aerosol lubricants are sprayed onto the surfaces and they quickly dry to form a hard, slippery protective surface. They will not attract or hold abrasive particles in suspension from the work environment. It does, however, take several applications before a good base of dry lubricant is formed. Applications must be added frequently to build up and maintain this lubricant base.
