Start By:a. remove parking brakeb. disassemble transmission 1. Remove bolts and locks from cage (1).2. Remove cage (1) with two 3/8" -16 NC forcing screws. 3. Remove bearing (2) and race (3) from cage (1). Remove rings (4) from grooves. 4. Remove input gear (5) from case. 5. Remove bearing races (6) from input gear using tool (A). 6. Remove bolt and washer that holds flange (7). Remove flange (7).7. Remove bolts (8). Remove cage (9) with two 3/8" -16 NC forcing screws. Remove shims and put identification on them. Remove spacer from front output shaft (10). 8. Remove seal (11) and bearing cup (12) from cage (9).9. Carefully turn the transfer gear case on the opposite side. 10. Remove bolt (13) and remove flange (14). Remove retainer from bolt (13). Remove O-ring seal from retainer. Inspect the seal and make a replacement if necessary. Remove bolts (15) that hold cage (16) to cover. 11. Remove cage (16) with two 3/8" -16 NC forcing screws. Remove shims (17) and put identification on them. Remove O-ring seal from cage and make a replacement if necessary. 12. Remove bearing cup (18) from cage (16) with tooling (B). Remove seal (19). 13. Remove all bolts that fasten cover (20) to the case. Remove cover (20) with two 3/8" -16 NC forcing screws. 14. Remove bearing and races from cover (20) with tooling (C). 15. Remove gear (22) and shaft (21) from case. 16. Remove bearing cones (23) and gear (24) using tool (A). 17. Remove bearing cones (25), and gears (27) from shaft using tool (A). Remove spacer (26). 18. Remove bearing cup (28) from case.Assemble Transfer Gears
1. Put all bearing cones in oil at a temperature of 135°C (275°F). 2. Install bearing cup in case using tool (A). 3. Install gear (2), spacer (3), and bearing cones (1) and (4) on shaft. 4. Install gear (6) and bearing cones (5) and (7) on gear. 5. Put shaft (8) and gear (9) in position in case. 6. Install bearing and races in cover with tooling (B). 7. Put cover (10) in position on case and install the bolts that fasten it to the case.8. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material in seal bore of cage and let dry. 9. Put oil on lip of seal. Install seal in cage (11) with tooling (A). Install seal with lip of seal toward the inside. 10. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (12) and install it in the cage. Install a new O-ring seal (13) on cage. 11. Put shims (14) and cage in position on cover (10). 12. Install the bolts (15) that fasten the cage to the cover (10). 13. Install flange (17) on shaft. Install a new O-ring seal on retainer and install retainer on bolt (16). Install bolt (16) and tighten it to a torque of 108.5 6.8 N m (80 5 lb ft). 14. Put tool group (C) in position on cover and bolt (18) to check end
