This manual provides instructions for disassembling the steer and oscillating pivot of the CB-314 compactor, separating the front and rear frames, and reassembling the pivot. Tests are also included for checking bushings used in the pivot, and replacing them if necessary.The steer and oscillating pivot consists of an articulation link and three hardened steel pins, which join the front and rear frames. These connections provide a center pivot point, allowing a steering angle of 50° in each direction. Self-aligning bushings used in the pivot assembly allow the front frame to oscillate in relation to the rear frame 12°.
When torque specifications for nuts and bolts are not given in this manual, standard torques should be used. A chart with standard torque specifications is located in the rear of the Technical Information and Minor Adjustments Module.
