Components of the brake oil cooler relief valve (1) Plug (2) Brake oil cooler relief valve (3) Shim (4) Valve (5) Spring (6) Shim - Do not adjust (7) Opening to the hydraulic tank (8) Opening for brake cooling oil Brake oil cooler relief valve (2) is located in the hoist control valve. The relief valve provides pressure relief to all oil that is flowing to the brake oil cooler. Pressure oil is sensed at the end of valve (4) through opening (8) . When the oil pressure exceeds the relief pressure, valve (4) moves toward plug (1) . This compresses spring (5) . This allows oil to flow past valve (4) , through opening (7) , and to the hydraulic tank.In order to change the pressure setting of the relief valve, remove plug (3) . Add shims (3) in order to increase the pressure setting. Remove shims (3) in order to decrease the pressure setting.Note: Do not adjust shims (6) .
