Inside Left Steering Column
(1) Propulsion override resistor"1"
(2) Propulsion override resistor"2"The propulsion override resistor"1" (1) and the propulsion override resistor"2" (2) are located inside the left steering column. A cover plate must be removed to access these components.Propulsion override resistors (1) and (2) limit the speed at which the machine will operate when the propulsion override switches are used.

(3) Back-up alarmBack-up alarm (3) is mounted to the rear of the machine, to the right of center.The back-up alarm relay controls back-up alarm (3). When the relay is energized, the back-up alarm sounds.

Compartment at Front of Operator Platform
(4) Back-up alarm relayBack-up alarm relay (4) is located in the power distribution module. This module is mounted to the inside of the door of the compartment that is at the front of the operator platform. The compartment door provides access to the power distribution module. The cover must be removed from the module to access the back-up alarm relay. A decal on the cover identifies the components in the power distribution module.The machine ECM controls back-up alarm relay (4). When the electronic control system determines that the desired travel direction is reverse, the machine ECM energizes the coil of the back-up alarm relay. In this case, the back-up alarm sounds.

(5) Steering sensorMachines equipped with the standard steering system have steering sensor (5) at the base of each steering wheel. A cover on the front of each operator console provides access to these components.Active steering sensor (5) provides an input signal to the transmission ECM. The transmission ECM uses the pulse-width modulated signal from the sensor to determine the desired turning radius.

(6) Friction steering unitMachines equipped with friction steering have friction steering unit (6) at the base of each steering wheel. A cover on the operator console provides access to this component.Each friction steering unit (6) contains a solenoid and a sensor. The solenoid in the unit on the active operator station creates a magnetic field that is applied to damping fluid located inside the unit. The damping fluid provides resistance to rotation of the steering wheel. The transmission ECM controls the output signal to the solenoid based on the friction steering level set on the operator display. The greater the output signal, the greater the resistance to rotation.The sensor in active friction steering unit (6) provides an input signal to the transmission ECM. The transmission ECM uses input from this pulse-width modulated sensor to determine the desired turning radius.
