start by:a) remove wheels, bearings and seals 1. Remove the cotter pin and pin (3) from the body and slack adjuster. Loosen the slack adjuster.2. Use tool (A) to remove ring (1) from the camshaft. Remove washer (2) and slack adjuster (4) from the camshaft. 3. Use a crowbar to pull the brake shoes away from the brake cam and install blocks (5) between the brake shoes and the axle housing. Remove brake shields (6) from the axle housing. 4. Use tool (A) to remove snap ring (8) from the groove in camshaft (7). Slide the snap ring and washer toward the slack adjuster.5. Pull the camshaft out of the axle housing and remove snap ring (8) and the washers from the camshaft. 6. Use tooling (B) to remove four seals (9) and two bearings (10) from the axle housing.Install Brake Camshafts And Slack Adjusters
1. Use tooling (B) to install the two bearings in the axle housing until they are .28 in. (7.1 mm) from the outside surface of the bearing bores.2. Use tooling (B) to install the two inside seals with the lips in as shown. Install the two outside seals with the lips in as shown. 3. Install washer (3) on the camshaft.4. Slide the camshaft through the first bearing. Install washer (2) and snap ring (1) on the camshaft.5. Slide the camshaft into the second bearing. Use tool (A) to slide snap ring (1) and washer (2) toward the cam until the snap ring is in groove (4). 6. Install brake shields (5) on the axle housing.7. Remove blocks (6) from between the brake shoes and axle housing. 8. Put the slack adjuster in position on the camshaft and install washer (8) and snap ring (7).9. Install pin (9) through the body and slack adjuster. Install the cotter pin that holds pin (9) in place.end by:a) install wheels, bearings and seals
