Left Swing Introduction
Two relief valves are located in the head of the swing motor. These relief valves limit the pressure in the left and right swing circuits to the swing relief valve settings. The following procedure will determine if the swing relief valves are out of adjustment.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Position the machine on level ground.
Stop the engine.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Pump compartment
(1) Pressure tap
Connect a 34,450 kPa (5,000 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (1).
Perform the following steps in order to engage the swing parking brake.

Main control valve
(2) Adapter
Disconnect the pilot line from adapter (2) at the SBU port on the main control valve.
Install 4J-5477 O-Ring Seal and 6V-9828 Cap As on the adapter.
Leave the end of the pilot line open to the atmosphere. Test Procedure
Start the engine.
Place the machine controls at the following settings: engine speed dial "10" and AEC switch OFF. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test (Engine Speed)" for engine rpm settings.
Place the hydraulic activation control lever in the UNLOCKED position.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° 5°C (131° 9°F).
Slowly move the swing joystick and make sure that the swing parking brake is activated.

Slowly move the swing joystick for a full SWING LEFT operation and check the pressure setting for relief valve (3) at pressure tap (1). The pressure setting should be 27000 1500 kPa (3916 218 psi).
Return the swing joystick to the NEUTRAL position.
If the pressure reading at pressure tap (1) is not within the specification, adjust the pressure setting of swing relief valve (3).
Slowly move the swing joystick for a full SWING RIGHT operation and check the pressure setting for relief valve (6) at pressure tap (1). The pressure setting should be 27000 1500 kPa (3916 218 psi).
Return the swing joystick to the NEUTRAL position.
If the pressure reading at pressure tap (1) is not within the specification, adjust the pressure setting of swing relief valve (6). Adjustment Procedure
In order to adjust the pressure setting of swing relief valve (3), loosen locknut (4). Turn adjustment screw (5)

(1) Pressure tap
Connect a 34,450 kPa (5,000 psi) pressure gauge to pressure tap (1).
Perform the following steps in order to engage the swing parking brake.

Main control valve

Disconnect the pilot line from adapter (2) at the SBU port on the main control valve.
Install 4J-5477 O-Ring Seal and 6V-9828 Cap As on the adapter.
