Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

If the water temperature regulator is installed incorrectly, it will cause the engine to overheat.
Use Tooling (B) to install lip seals (14), if necessary. Ensure that the lip of the seal is toward the inside of the housing.
Replace seal (15), if necessary.
Install water temperature regulators (16) in regulator housing (10) with the spring upward.

Install regulator housing (10) on water temperature regulator housing (12).
Install the O-ring seals in water temperature regulator housing (12).
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to water temperature regulator housing (12). The weight of water temperature regulator housing (12) is approximately 59 kg (130 lb). Position water temperature regulator housing (12) on the engine. Connect the harness assembly to the temperature sensor on the water temperature regulator housing (12).
Install bolts (11) that attach water temperature regulator housing (12) to exhaust manifold (13).

Install mounting straps (7) and (9). Install plate (8) on the engine oil filter housing.

Install a new gasket, elbow (1), and bolts (3).
Install the O-ring seals and tube (5). Install retainers (2) and (6) with the bolts.
Install support bracket (4) and the bolts.
Fill the cooling system to the correct level with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
