The mating surfaces of the connecting rod are produced by hydraulically fracturing the forged connecting rod.
Callout Quantity Part Specification Description
1 - Connecting rod bolts Use new Torx bolts (1) for this procedure.
Use a Torx socket to tighten the Torx bolts to a torque of 40 N m (30 lb ft)
Tighten the Torx bolts for an additional 120 degrees.
After removal of the connecting rod, reassemble the connecting rod cap to the connecting rod. Tighten the assembly to the following torque 15 N m (133 lb in).
2 - The bearing shell for the connecting rod
A - Alignment of the bearing shell The bearing shell for the connecting rod must be aligned equally from both ends of the connecting rod.
Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual for information on the alignment tool.
