Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Note: There is spring force against pin (28) and against spool (31).
Use the following procedure to remove spool (31) from valve body (13):
Turn valve body (13) onto the opposite side and position valve body (13) onto suitable cribbing.
Use a suitable hammer and a suitable punch in order to drive pin (28) into valve body (13) until pin (28) is clear of spool (31). Do not remove the punch at this time.
Use a suitable screwdriver in order to slightly depress spool (31).
Remove the punch from the hole for pin (28).
Slowly remove the screwdriver in order to relieve the spring force against spool (31).
Remove spool (31) from valve body (13).
Remove spring (29) from valve body (13).
Remove slug (30) from spool (29).

Position valve body (13).
Remove piston (32) from valve body (13).

Remove spacers (33) from the inside diameter of piston (32).
Remove spring (34) and spring (35) from valve body (13). Note: When you remove spool (36), use a suitable punch or a suitable screwdriver in order to keep the outside diameters of the spool and the bore of valve body (13) aligned. Avoid scratching the highly finished surfaces of spool (36) and the bore of valve body (13).
Remove spool (36) from valve body (13).
Remove slug (37) from spool (36).

Note: There is spring force against retaining ring (41).
Carefully remove retaining ring (41), retainer (40), spring (39), and ball (38) from spool (36).

Remove stop (42) and spool (43) from valve body (13).

Note: There is spring force against retaining ring (44). Hold retainers (46) and spring (45) while you are removing retaining ring (44).
Remove retaining ring (44), retainers (46), and spring (45) from spool (43).

Remove plate (14) from valve body (47).
Remove plugs (48) from plate (14).

Remove bolts (49), cover (50), and O-ring seal (51) from valve body (47).
Remove stop (52) from valve body (47).
Remove spool (56) from valve body (47). Note: There is spring force against retaining ring (53). Hold retainers (54) and spring (55) while you are removing retaining ring (53).
Remove retaining ring (53), retainers (54), and spring (55) from spool (56).
