The weight of the new piston and rod is exactly the same as the former piston and rod. The same piston pin is used in both. For this reason, a new piston, rod, and pin can be installed in one or more cylinders of an earlier engine and the engine will still be in balance. It is not necessary to install a complete set of pistons and rods if new parts are installed in earlier engines. The 6V100 Tool Arrangement must be used to correctly remove the old piston pin bearing and install the new bearing in the tapered connecting rod.
