Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the necessary parts and installation information required to install a shockless valve (shock reducing valve) to absorb the shock loads before the boom or stick cylinder rod stops travel.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you have read and understood the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual, Operation and Maintenance Manual, and Parts Manual.Parts Needed
Installation
(1) 5I6730 Plate. (2) 8T4200 Bolts. (5) 964873 Nut. (6) 950913 Clip. (8) 856377 Hose. (9) 998023 Hose. (10) 998351 Hose. (11) 863122 Hose. (12) 863124 Hose. (13) 863125 Hose.1. Weld 5I6730 Plate (1) and two 8T4200 Bolts (2) to the swing frame in the main control valve compartment.
(2) 8T4200 Bolts. (3) 8T4198 Bolts. (4) 7X0623 Washers. (5) 964873 Nut. (7) 951357 Clip. (14) 5I6566 Shockless Valve.2. Install 5I6566 Shockless Valve (14) onto 5I6730 Plate (1) using four 8T4198 Bolts (3) and 7X0623 Washers (4). Do not remove the six vinyl plugs from the shockless valve.3. Remove the 966504 Clip and five 960061 Bands. Note the location of these items, they will be installed in the same location after the shockless valve hoses have been installed.4. Disconnect and remove the hose located between quick coupler G to control valve port bL4 (front).5. Disconnect and remove the hose located between quick coupler C to control valve port aL4 (rear).6. Disconnect and remove the hose located between quick coupler H to control valve port aR3 (rear). These three hoses will not be used again. 7. Remove the six vinyl plugs from the shockless valve.8. Install five 951426 Connectors (15) and 951582 O-rings (17) into ports A, B, C, 2, and 3 of shockless valve (14). 9. Install 958004 Elbow (16) and 951582 O-ring (17) into port 1 of shockless valve (14).10. Install 863124 Hose (12) between quick coupler G and shockless valve port A.11. Install 863122 Hose (11) between quick coupler C and shockless valve port B.12. Install 863125 Hose (13) between quick coupler H and shockless valve port C.13. Install 998351 Hose (10) between shockless valve port 1 and control valve port bL4 (front).14. Install 856377 Hose (8) between shockless valve port 2 and control valve port aL4 (rear).15. Install 998023 Hose (9) between shockless valve port 3 and control valve port aR3 (rear).16. Fasten the pilot hoses using 950913 Clip (6), 961357 Clip (7), 8T4200 Bolts (2), and 964873 Nuts (5). Install the 960061 Bands in the locations from where they were removed in Step 3.17. Check the oil level in the hydraulic tank. Maintain the oil to the recommended level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the capacity and type of oil to use.18. Start the machine and check for leaks. Repair any leaks found.
