Introduction
Use the following procedure to calibration the front linkage position sensors. The front linkage position sensor of the machine is located at the boom foot.Machine Preparation
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before moving the machine to perform the test that follows.
Illustration 1 g06095393The following procedure must be completed before performing the calibration.
Start the engine.
Position the machine on level ground. Refer to Illustration 1.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° 5°C (131° 9°F).
Position the stick in a vertical position.
Position the boom swing in the center position.
Fully extend the bucket cylinder.Procedures
Monitor Procedure
Enter the service mode. Input the password "9992."
Scroll to "Calibrations".
Select "Front Linkage Position Sensor" from the "Calibrations" menu. Press "OK" key.
"Step 0: Requesting" will appear briefly on the monitor as the machine ECM moves to test mode.
"Step 1: Ready to Start" will appear on the monitor. Press "OK" key.
"Step 2: Calibrating Position" will appear on the monitor. Set the machine according to instruction shown on the screen. Press "OK" key.
"Step 3: Calibrating" will appear on the monitor. Set the machine according to instruction shown on the screen. Press "OK" key.
"Step 4: Complete" will appear on the monitor.If calibration was successful and no errors occurred, the display will indicate that the calibration is complete.
The "Error" screen will be displayed on the monitor if an error occurs. The process of calibration will not be saved and the process must be restarted.Cat Electronic Technician Procedure

Diagnostic connector for Cat Electronic Technician
Connect the Cat Electronic Technician to the diagnostic connector located behind the seat on the left side of the cab.
Start Cat Electronic Technician.
Select the ECM for "Machine Control".
Select "Calibrations" from the "Service"menu.
Highlight "Front Linkage Position Sensor Calibration" and click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen.
Select the control input to calibrate and press the "Begin" button.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Press "Next" button to continue through to the next step.
If the calibration was successful and no errors occurred, the display will indicate that the calibration is complete. Press the "Finish" button to exit or move on to the next calibration.
If the calibration failed, the calibration is not saved. Press the "Restart" button to try the calibration again or press the "Finish" button to exit or move on to the next calibration.
